Aurora College has launched a new, student-centred website that will make it easier for potential and current students to find and access important information about Aurora College’s programs, schedules, student services and supports, tuition and other fees, how to apply and more.

It is accessible through the current web address: www.auroracollege.nt.ca.

Prospective post-secondary students are increasingly researching their options online, so it is therefore important that Aurora College has a website that is modern, dynamic, innovative and accessible and provides relevant, up-to-date information about the college and its programs to potential students no matter where they live.

As competition for post-secondary and adult education students increases across the country, an informative and appealing website will help attract students who are choosing a post-secondary institution. The new website will also allow Aurora College to market to a wider range of potential students through expanded visual content that showcases the college’s programs, facilities, locations.

The new website connects to the college’s Student Information System, allowing students to access their email, register for courses, pay tuition, fees and rent, access online learning platforms such as Moodle, check their marks, and much more all in one place.  The new website is easier to view and navigate on multiple platforms, including smart phones, tablets, laptops and desktops and has been optimized to load quickly and use less bandwidth.

The new website is one of three quality improvements Aurora College has made to increase access and better serve students. The college recently introduced an online application system that makes it easier and quicker for students to apply to most programs. The online application streamlines and speeds up the admissions process so that applicants can know sooner if they are accepted or if more information is required to complete their application. Earlier acceptance provides students more time to plan and organize their educational journey and to ensure they have their financial supports in place.

In addition to the online application and the new website the college introduced an early admissions process for students registering for the 2021-22 academic year.  This has resulted in a significant increase in both applications and accepted students.

The new, user-friendly website is an example of Aurora College’s commitment to strengthening its student-centred, inclusive and welcoming environment through the use of new media. In addition, the college has expanded the number and type of online courses offered, upgraded online library and research supports for students and faculty, expanded the use of social media platforms for student recruitment and information sharing and launched an updated website for Aurora Research Institute.

“As Aurora College transforms into a polytechnic university there will be increased access to quality post-secondary and adult education for Northern residents in every community,” said Andy Bevan, president of Aurora College. “This new website will help make applying to programs and taking that first step to Northern employment easier.”
